A specialist provision comprising of a children’s home and a special school providing education and care for young people.

Overton School provides specialist care and education for young people of both genders from 11– 18. The children’s home provides accommodation for fifteen young people whilst Overton School is registering for thirty pupils providing fifteen ‘day only’ placements. We are located in the beautiful Shropshire countryside on the periphery of the market town of Ludlow. The school is situated in a large characterful Victorian building sensitively adapted to meet the varying needs of our young people. Our school offers a modern education block with dedicated academic and vocational learning spaces which compliments the school’s capacity for providing high quality care and learning where students can enjoy and achieve. Our specialist facilities include:

  • Swimming pool
  • Well-equipped sensory aware rooms
  • A bistro area for shared dining
  • Extensive grounds to facilitate physical activity
  • High visual strategies to support  processing difficulties
  • 1:1 rooms for when group settings are overwhelming
  • Discreet colour schemes to create calming environments

Delivering Outcomes through an Integrated Approach’

Relating to our young people in a sensitive, caring and consistent manner is the most important contribution we can make to their development.  Our approach follows the principles of the National Autistic Society SPELL framework and places young people at the heart of everything we do. Our young people are therefore well poised to achieve the best outcomes through this ‘person centred’ approach.  We have a well-defined integrated approach across education, care, therapy and parents, and we work towards common and agreed goals with our strategies therapeutically applied.
